Only Ignorant Assholes Use the Term "Rude"
The word "rude" is one of the dumbest words I have ever heard in my life. These days it has been cheapened to a word people use to win an argument that they have no hope of winning. Someone has clear evidence that I am doing something immorally wrong? All I have to do is call them rude and I can safely ignore all of that so called evidence and continue to wallow in my ignorance. While term "rude" has many different meanings, in the English language, I am specifically referring to the meaning "Offensively impolite or bad-mannered," as defined by the Oxford dictionary.* The main problem I have with the word is that it is too vague to be useful. Just take a look at the word impolite defined as "Not having or showing good manners; rude," and the word polite defined as "Having or showing behaviour that is respectful and considerate of other people," or more accurately "Relating to people who regard themselves as more cultured and refined than others."
The problem is the terms "rude" and "impolite" piggy back off each other without providing any enlightenment into what is considered unacceptable behaviour. Unless a comprehensive list is made detailing what acts constitute as being rude, the word is too vague to have any real meaning. We as people, improperly, compensate for this by using our own ideas of what we believe to be rude and polite. This creates the new problem that every person has different views and beliefs on what could be considered rude behaviour, and the term "rude" could be used to describe any possible behaviour. Most often, people call someone rude simply because that person told them the truth and they do not want to acknowledge the truth as being right. Case and point, it is rude to call someone stupid, fat or ugly despite the fact it may be true. Heck, under the current usage of the word I could accurately call someone rude for calling me rude, and the fact of the matter is, calling someone rude is actually the rudest thing someone could possibly do. Think about it. You just called someone out, in public, for acting improperly. That is pretty fucking rude if you ask me.
As for me. I never use the term, and have never felt the need to ever use such a poor excuse for a word. I prefer to use facts and logic to shoot down any criticism people have against me. I imagine the word was created by a group of self-absorbed individuals so they could make fun of people, they deem, lesser than themselves. I also believe that the people that actually make the most use out of the word do so because they lack the intelligence to properly defend themselves using logic. In short, if someone calls you rude, politely remind them that they are being much ruder and they can kindly take their unwanted, ignorant bullshit and fuck off.
